Watch the hilarious moment police chase after swan which stopped traffic on the Redheugh Bridge

Rush hour drivers got a surprise on Tuesday after a SWAN wandered onto the Redheugh Bridge.

Traffic had to be halted while police attempted to chase the bird who was walking around both sides of the carriageway.

The incident happened at around 6pm and traffic was flowing a short time later after the swan was taken to safety.

A shocked Neil McLoram captured pictures and video and said: "Well, that's a first!"

Two police officers eventually managed to catch the swan and got it into a car. It was then released on the Quayside.

A spokesperson for the force tweeted: "Swan! SCs Roscoe and Curtis came across this little fella on the Redheugh bridge earlier causing chaos amongst traffic.

"Safely detained and later released down the quayside following words advice regarding future landings."
