WATCH: The highs and lows as Albion Rovers complete one of Scottish football's all-time great escape miracles

On March 2, Albion Rovers had taken seven points from their opening 27 games.

They fell to a late equaliser at home against relegation rivals Berwick, and the 1-1 draw saw Rovers stay seven points behind their rivals.

Management team Kevin Harper and Joe McLaughlin couldn’t buy a win and didn’t win any of their first 12 games having taken over from John Brogan in November 2018.

Tragic goalkeeping coach heartbreak inspired Albion Rovers great escape, says captain

Now, they have somehow avoided the relegation play-off place and pulled off The Great Escape.

After the tragic sudden passing of goalkeeping coach Michael Duke, Rovers went on to claim six points in one day as they were awarded a win over Clyde and secured the first win of the Harper era against Stirling.

They went on to win over Elgin and Cowdenbeath. Declan Byrne’s goals in both the 2-0 win and 1-0 win take them off the bottom for the first time in the entire season.

Ex-Albion Rovers boss Paul Martin believes Kevin Harper deserves a medal if he keeps the club in League Two  

A draw with league leaders Peterhead (1-1) and win over Edinburgh City (3-2) set them up for an unbelievable comeback, which they secured with a 3-0 win over The Wee Gers - completing a huge 19 point gain in just a few weeks.
