Watch the emotional send off for 9 year Leeds boy after tragic death

Dozens of people packed the streets of Farnley this afternoon in glorious sunshine to say one final goodbye to a brave little boy with an infectious smile.

Daniel Gorthorpe, simply known to his family as 'Dan Dan', has battled a number of disabilities throughout his life, including frequent epileptic seizures.

He passed away in his sleep at the end of May and the family admits it has been a "heartbreaking" few months - particularly as Dan's uncle Matty also died in a tragic car crash just last year.

Only a handful of people were allowed to attend his funeral today (Friday) due to Covid-19 restrictions. However, his nana Michelle was spot on when she predicted they would "have to close the whole street", as dozens of people turned out for an emotional farewell outside the family home in Farnley.

Watch the video above for the moment that friends and family burst into spontaneous applause as the funeral procession slowly marched through the street in a tear-jerking spectacle.
