Watch the Czinger 21C hypercar ahead of Geneva Motor Show debut

THIS is the sensational Czinger 21C hypercar that’s going to make its global debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

With production limited to just 80 vehicles with road and track-oriented variants, its Californian makers say the 21C’s hybrid powertrain produces an astonishing 1250hp (1233bhp) and can dash to 62mph in a breathtaking 1.9 seconds.

That’s the kind of power and speed very few rivals can match. And they are all-electric offerings as opposed to vehicles incorporating a traditionally fuelled engine anyway.

Los Angeles-based Czinger (pronounced zinger) says it has developed the powerplant, along with the 3D-printed vehicle structure, from scratch in-house.

The all-wheel-drive machine uses a 2.88-litre, flat crank V8 with twin turbos located mid-vehicle. Two high-output electric motors power a front wheel each, with torque vectoring, and the set-up includes a seven-speed sequential transmission.

With a dry weight of less than 1200kg, the 21C can cover a quarter of a mile in just 8.1 seconds, go from 0-186(300kph)-0mph in 15 seconds and 0-248mph(400kph)-0 in 29 seconds. It has a top speed of 268mph (432kph).

The firm has also revealed there’s a driver-focussed, fighter jet-style cockpit, with a single passenger seat behind the person lucky enough to be at the wheel.

Teaser pictures show the stunning machine against the backdrop of the Alameda Naval Base in San Francisco, showcasing some if its sublime design lines.

Other images show it elsewhere at its Californian home – including on the Pacific Coast Highway. The firm says the "strong, athletic surfaces flow and wrap around the car's performance core" and that it "looks like nothing else on the planet".

There’s no word on price but Czinger promises the 21C “is an evolutionary leap in performance vehicle creation” and marks “a paradigm shift in the way vehicles are designed, developed, engineered and manufactured”.

The team behind the car say they have created a sophisticated, hi-tech production system that includes automated design and assembly, optimisation software and "novel performance materials", as well as the 3D-printing technique.

And the new brand goes on to boast of its groundbreaking 21C: “From a cutting-edge chassis and bespoke structures to pioneering high-performance components, Czinger has crafted a revolutionary hypercar fit for the 21st century.”
