Watch The Crown trailer for season three as an Oscar-winning actress joins the cast

A newly-released teaser for the return of Netflix hit The Crown is set to send fans into a right royal frenzy of excitement.

Joining the cast of the historical drama will be Olivia Colman as the Queen, taking over from Claire Foy.

The recent Oscar winner, who won the Best Actress gong for playing another queen - Queen Anne - in 2018 film The Favourite, will play Queen Elizabeth II for the next two series of the Netflix show.

The Crown, written by Peter Morgan, evolved partly from his 2006 hit film The Queen and is a huge hit with viewers who will be eagerly awaiting the new season.

In the trailer, there's a nod to Claire Foy when Colman says there's is nothing one can do about change as she compares a stamp showing a profile of herself with one showing the younger queen, as portrayed by Foy.

Fans of the drama will also see other new faces in the drama including Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret; Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip; Josh O'Connor as Prince Charles and Erin Doherty as Princess Anne.

The third season will premiere on Netflix on November 17.
