For Boston Celtics fans who did not know his game, selecting Oregon point guard Payton Pritchard 26th overall in the 2020 NBA draft might have seemed a bit of a reach at the time, but the West Linn native is an excellent 3-point shot with range that extends out well past the NBA 3-point line.
Celtics fans quickly got it once they saw him on the court, and the brutal gut-punch of a rookie player dropping bombs from the next county over quickly got Pritchard on opposing scouting reports. The former Duck shot 59.3% of his shots from beyond the arc — connecting on 41.1% of them — and the particularly deep treys that tend to give opposing defenses fits were a significant part of them.
