Watch the all-new Range Rover

ICONIC 4x4 brand Land Rover has unveiled the fifth generation of its luxury Range Rover and says it takes technology, refinement and capability to an unrivalled level.

The upmarket British marque also promises that customers will be spoiled for choice in terms of engines and interiors.

The powertrains include efficient mild-hybrid diesel and petrol options, plug-in hybrid petrol variants and a potent petrol V8, with a pure-electric Range Rover set to join the line-up in 2024.

Meanwhile, the standard and long-wheelbase body designs and trim selections allow buyers to plump for four, five or seven-seat interiors.

The new luxury SUV is available in familiarly badged SE, HSE and Autobiography trims, while a First Edition will be available throughout the first year of production, featuring a unique specification and gold paintjob option.

An exclusive Special Vehicle Operations division SV variant will follow later in 2022 – with a sumptuous four-seat configuration available for those who want limo-style luxury.

In terms of exterior design, the new Range Rover has the classic falling roofline, strong waistline, rising sill line and short front overhang.

But a distinctive new boat tail rear (complete with practical split tailgate) and sophisticated engineering create clean, contemporary and incredibly aerodynamic surfaces.

The attention to detail in the cabin aims to ensure all on board enjoy an experience to savour on every trip – while also introducing innovative, eco-friendly textiles as an alternative to leather finishing.

For example, clever sound-system technology helps to cancel out road and engine noises, while the purifying air con set-up keeps out the kind of particles that will irritate asthma and hay fever sufferers.

Always acclaimed for its pioneering suspension, the new Range Rover also has a pre-emptive system that uses navigation data to read the road ahead and prime the system to provide perfect responses.

A new feature is power-assisted doors with anti-pinch safety and hazard detection that will prevent them opening until whatever is passing has gone by.

The in-car experience is massively improved by the integration of Amazon Alexa that uses intuitive natural voice commands to do away with fiddling with buttons or touchscreen options for a huge variety of in-car functions and infotaintment needs.

It’s so clever, it can even turn on your lights at home and connect to other Alexa-enabled devices.

The Pivi Pro infotainment technology with its largest-ever touchscreen – a 13.1in curved, floating affair – is linked to a 13.7in interactive driver display, while there are convenient hard switches for the climate control.

To keep the kids, or rear-seated executives happy, there’s an entertainment system available that has independently operated 11.4in touchscreens and wi-fi hotspot capability.

A James Bond-style smartphone app allows drivers to control the new Range Rover from outside the vehicle to manoeuvre into and out of parking spaces while they monitor progress nearby.

Meanwhile, advanced hardware and software systems fine tune the driving characteristics thanks to the likes of all-wheel steering, independent air suspension, intelligent all-wheel drive and a variety of driving modes that allow drivers to create bespoke settings.

The impressive engine line-up includes extended-range PHEVs that gives a pure-electric, real-world range of about 50 miles – enough for typical Range Rover drivers to complete 75 per cent of journeys.

Moreover, a high-powered P510e will sprint to 60mph in just 5.3 seconds. The new Range Rover is available to order now, priced from £94,400 – go to www.landrover.com/newrangerover to find out more.

Jaguar Land Rover boss Thierry Bollore said: “The New Range Rover is a superb manifestation of our vision to create the world’s most desirable luxury vehicles, for the most discerning of customers.

“It writes the next chapter in the unique story of pioneering innovation that has been a Range Rover hallmark for more than 50 years.”
