Watch the 2021 Scottish Malts Rally raise smiles of fun

SCOTS petrolheads and classic car fans might have been lucky enough to catch sight of a feast of fine machines over the last few days.

That’s because the Scottish Malts Rally, run by HERO-ERA, has been taking place across the country – covering 930 miles in total.

The field of about 60 cars that entered has included everything from a 1928 4.5-litre Bentley Le Mans to a 1990 1.8-litre BMW 318i.

Marques also among the mix take in Riley, Chevrolet, Jaguar, MG, Morgan, Datsun, Triumph, Austin Healey, Porsche, Lotus, Alfa Romeo, Mercedes, Renault and Rover.

The eclectic bunch has been competing in challenging drives and performance tests starting at Dalmahoy Hotel on the western outskirts of Edinburgh and finishing there later today.

But the scenic route has included the likes of the Tay Forest, Pitlochry, Cairngorms, Inverness, Spey Valley, Aberdeen, Strathmore, Crieff and Loch Lomond.

Visits to distilleries and significant stately homes and castles has also been part of the fun for those taking part.

After being forced to cancel last year’s event because of the Covid pandemic, it’s been a welcome 17th running of the event along a brand new route.
