WATCH: Texas A&M fullback Cullen Gillaspia celebrates being drafted by Texans

Seventh-round pick Cullen Gillaspia has spent his life since high school within a 100-mile radius as he played football for Texas A&M.

Now, the former Katy Taylor product can add his professional career within that 100-mile radius as the Houston Texans selected him 220th overall in the 2019 NFL draft Saturday.

The Texans are getting a fullback who ought to be able to open up rushing lanes for running back D’Onta Foreman, protect quarterback Deshaun Watson, and be a key contributor on special teams.

Gillaspia was the Texans’ final pick of the draft. Though his selection puts a period on the draft for Houston, he is hoping that it’s a new beginning in a familiar place with the Texans.
