WATCH: Texans TE Jerell Adams catches touchdown versus Packers

Houston Texans tight end Jerell Adams scores his first touchdown pass as a Texan during the Packers week one preseason game.

Running a corner route, Adams was able to create separation against linebacker James Crawford. In turn, quarterback Joe Webb found him wide-open in the end zone to convert the Texans’ first passing touchdown of the day.

Adams shows separation-creating abilities on the highlight; as he attacks the linebacker with a stutter-step to find outside leverage towards the corner. He finishes it off with an athletic grab. Boom. Touchdown Texans.

Drafted in the sixth round out of South Carolina, Adams spent two seasons with the New York Giants. He played both tight end and wide receiver, recording 24 receptions for 214 yards and a touchdown in the same span. He spent 2018 with the Texans’ practice squad and earned a futures contract shortly after the season.

With Jordan Thomas, Jordan Akins, Kahale Warring, and Darren Fells on the roster, Adams faces an uphill battle to be a Texan week one. Nonetheless, an impressive preseason should help the 26 year old’s stock.
