WATCH: Texans QB Deshaun Watson runs for first touchdown of 2019

After a quarter of goose eggs, the Houston Texans were the first on the scoreboard. Via a Deshaun Watson run on fourth down, the Texans built a 7-0 lead after Whitney Mercilus forced an interception on New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

The run appears to be a designed one off of an RPO. Watson watched the middle of the field break down, then went to the left side of the line following a pull block by tight end Jordan Akins.

Akins acted as Watson’s escort down the field while the Saints defense wasn’t prepared for the speed off the edge by the dual-threat quarterback.

To break the pylon, Watson had to leap over a Saints defender. The pylon cam caught a good luck of the play.

After the play, Watson was slow to get up. However, he did so under his own power and, at the time of writing, is in good condition.
