WATCH: Texans DE Derek Rivers sacks Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence

Houston Texans defensive end Derek Rivers made his presence felt against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Week 15 matchup Sunday afternoon at TIAA Bank Field.

Rivers, who signed a contract extension that keeps him through the 2022 season, managed to sack the No. 1 overall pick in the third quarter on Jacksonville’s opening drive of the half. The three-and-out forced the Jaguars to punt the ball back to the Texans, who then added another three points to increase their lead to 23-10.

Rivers told reporters on Dec. 17 why he decided to stay with Houston.

“A lot of times when you leave a team, you miss the people that you met there,” Rivers said. “Just grateful to be able to be around some of these men again and to come back. Obviously it’s been a down year, but obviously next year come back and try to be better.”
