WATCH: Texans DE Charles Omenihu, OLB Whitney Mercilus each strip sack Gardner Minshew

In an offensive struggle of a Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars game, the only thing working for each team is getting to the quarterback.

Outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus and defensive end Charles Omenihu are doing just that. By the end of the second quarter, each had a strip-sack on Jaguars rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew to their name with the Texans up 6-3.

First with Omenihu, which was the first sack of his career. It also happens to be his first strip-sack.

Lining up alongside interior lineman Brandon Dunn (No. 92), Omenihu pushed Jaguars rookie right tackle Jawaan Taylor, then used his right arm to extend and shrink the pocket. Jacksonville recovered the ball.

Then Mercilus’, which was his second of the year.

Mercilus went on an island with Jaguars left tackle Will Richardson. His speed around the edge prevailed, as he reeled around the pocket to get to Jacksonville’s rookie quarterback. It’s his second-straight game with a sack.
