WATCH: Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt proposes an interesting game plan against Alabama

Tennessee is entering Week 8 coming off its first SEC win of the season (20-10 versus Mississippi State ) and … doesn’t look as bad as it did after its season-opening loss to Georgia State (4-2, 2-1 Sun Belt).

The Vols (2-4, 1-2 SEC) are not, however, unrealistically optimistic ahead of facing No. 1 Alabama (6-0) in Tuscaloosa this week.

According to Wes Rucker of GoVols247, head coach Jeremy Pruitt proposed an interesting game plan at his Monday media availability.

“#Vols coach Jeremy Pruitt on his game plan for this week: There’s a high school team in Arkansas that does an onside kick for every kickoff and never punts. If we could do that and never give Alabama the football this week, that would be a great game plan.,” Rucker tweeted from Knoxville.

While it probably sounds like a better idea in theory — as it only works if the special teams unit recovers every onside kick — at least Pruitt is having a good sense of humor ahead of preparing to face his former boss Nick Saban.
