WATCH: Tedy Bruschi says he’s ‘doing much better’ after stroke

ESPN analyst and former NFL linebacker Tedy Bruschi shared an encouraging update on Instagram on Monday morning after suffering a stroke on July 4th.

He explained what happened that day, detailing that he first lost the use of his left arm and noticed his slurred words when he tried to speak. He then turned to his wife, who saw that the left side of his face was drooping.

Even though the Patriots great is only 46 years old, this stroke was Bruschi’s second. His first was at age 31 in 2005, just 10 days following New England’s 24-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 39. Shortly after the event, he learned that he had a congenital heart defect that had produced a hole in his heart.

Bruschi has since become a stroke awareness advocate and started Tedy’s Team, a foundation raising awareness and supporting stroke survivors.
