Watch: Teddy Bridgewater puts the Saints ahead with Jared Cook TD catch

They took their time, but the New Orleans Saints offense finally scored a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars defense. Early in the fourth quarter on their latest trip deep into Jaguars territory, Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater found veteran tight end Jared Cook for a touchdown catch in the back of the end zone. Bridgewater put a lot of heat on the pass, but Cook was able to secure the ball despite its fast trajectory outside his back shoulder.

It’s the second touchdown pass from Bridgewater to Cook in as many weeks. Cook missed a lot of time during the Saints preseason games with an undisclosed injury, and struggled with timing issues throughout the first few weeks of the regular season because of it. Too often he would turn too late when the ball came his way, leading to a drop or incomplete pass. But he’s stepped up in recent games and could be on his way to reaching the sky-high potential Saints coach Sean Payton talked up all summer.

Including his stats from last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cook has now caught 7 of his last 9 targets to gain 78 yards, twice finding the end zone. That’s encouraging progress; hopefully it continues.
