Watch: Teddy Bridgewater delivers postgame speech after defeating Seahawks

Back in 2016, Teddy Bridgewater’s life was turned sideways. His cleats caught in the turf and he fell during a freak accident at Minnesota Vikings practice, shredding the ligaments in his knee and putting his career in jeopardy. The surgeon that operated on him described the damage as something normally seen in car accidents. At one point, amputation was an option.

But he bounced back. Bridgewater kept the faith, trusted his doctors, and attacked the physical rehab process. And it brought him back into the spotlight with the New Orleans Saints, years later, starting in place of Drew Brees against the Seattle Seahawks. And the Saints left with a victory.

It earned Bridgewater a game ball, and the opportunity to address his teammates in the locker room afterwards. He used that time to thank them for accepting him on their team, and for putting their trust in him to step up and into such a big position. A film crew from NFL Films were on hand to catch the emotional moment, and you can watch it where it’s embedded below, or by following this link:

Things will only get more challenging for Bridgewater from here; the 3-0 Dallas Cowboys are coming to town for a Sunday Night Football game inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sept. 29. But Bridgewater’s shown he has what it takes to help his team win.
