Watch sweet surprise reunion of Clydebank pensioner pals at granddaughter's 18th birthday

Pensioner pals who lost touch for over 50 years have been reunited after love blossomed between their grandchildren.

When Margaret Stewart and Isa Gibson, both 86, met as teenagers working at Singer Sewing Machines Factory in Clydebank they instantly became the best of friends.

The pair, who survived the Clydebank Blitz , spent their weekends dancing at Duntocher Village Hall.

Isa even introduced Margaret to her husband George, who has since passed away.

As the chums started families and moved on to different jobs, they lost touch.

That was until Friday night, when they were reunited at Margaret's granddaughter, Ashlyn Deeney's eighteenth birthday party.

Amazingly, the connection was made through Isa's great-grandson, Declan Boyce, 17, who happens to be Ashlyn's boyfriend.

The emotional reunion, back at Duntocher Village Hall, was captured on camera.

Adorable footage, shared on social media, has melted the hearts of Clydebank locals in their droves.

Ashyn's father, Martin Deeney, couldn't believe it when the connection between his daughter and her boyfriend was made.

The dad-of-two from Hardgate, West Dunbartonshire, told the Record: "Declan was over one night and mentioned both of their names in passing.

"Ashlyn remembered her gran mentioning an Isa and it went from there.

"There was no social media or mobile phones in those days.

"It's amazing to bring them back together."

From the moment the pair reunited at the do, videographer Martin said they were inseparable.

He added: "They were holding hands all night, just joined at the hip.

"They talked all night, and were up dancing too.

"It made the party that bit more special, and it was lovely for Ashlyn and Declan."

Now that business Management student Ashlyn and trainee football coach, Declan got the ball rolling in reigniting Margaret and Isa's friendship, Martin says the chums plan to meet up over the festive period.

He said: "We're already thinking about future family gatherings where the two of them can see one another again.

"Hopefully they can meet up more often.

"We can't believe this has happened."
