As a mix of nerves and excitement dominates the day, England fans might find some relief in the knowledge that one Newcastle star - with a proven track record in rooting out a winner - has every confidence in the team's abilities.
Susie the Psychic Pig, a popular resident of Ouseburn Farm in Newcastle, predicted the outcome of England's first Euro match - and got it right.
She confirmed England for the win against Croatia by making a pick from three food pails positioned in front of her and marked with the countries' flags and a draw option.

The only fleeting moment of concern came when she sank her teeth into an England flag being displayed nearby. But after a bit of wrestle, she made the right choice and was praised as a "patriotic pig".
The following match against Scotland might have caused a little uncertainty, as she rather rasher-ly tipped a win again, only for the game to end in a draw.
As Susie was called upon again to pick a winner ahead of this Tuesday's England v Germany match, it was clearly a tense of moment.
Large white breed sow Susie herself looked relaxed as she came out to face two food buckets - the draw option having been removed this time - marked with the flags of England and Germany.
And relying upon sheer animal instincts, she, to great relief, chose England to be the victor against old rival Germany.
She headed immediately for her home team although, admittedly, did then debate the merits of Germany - eating the contents of its bucket - before returning to her first choice.
Overseeing the big moment, and capturing the moment on video, was comedian Hal Branson who has been at Susie's side throughout the Euro predictions.
Noting that she had considered Germany's options a bit tasty for a while, he confirmed: "So it's England for the win."
And he encouraged people to visit the farm where Susie lives with an assortment of other animals.
In the run-up to the 5pm game, which will decide England's future at the Euros, Susie's news and the video was shared on Ouseburn Farm's Facebook page with the note: "We hope it's not her last prediction!"
