WATCH: Steven Jackson’s new contract with the Rams was merely a one-day, ceremonial deal

The NFL apparently missed the memo that Steven Jackson’s new contract with the Rams was merely a one-day, ceremonial deal.

Jackson tweeted Thursday that the NFL selected him for a random drug test screening, saying: “Dear NFL can you tell Mr. Lombardo that I signed a one day contract. I will not be reporting today for my random drug test screening. Thanks in advance #retirement life 😎.”

Jackson’s Monday with the organization that he was a part of for nine years included the running back taking one last handoff and putting on the No. 39 jersey once more. The 36-year-old retires as the all-time rushing yards leader for the Rams, but he is not at all being considered as one of Todd Gurley’s backups, nor does he need to take a drug test for the league for any other reason.

The three-time Pro Bowl player did tweet that he’s fine to take the money that would come with a serious contract though.
