Steven Jackson was honored by the Los Angeles Rams on Monday before their training camp practice, signing a one-day contract to retire as a member of the franchise he played nine years for. After he put pen to paper one last time, Jackson took a handoff from Jared Goff, toting the rock once again.
It was a great day for the Rams legend, officially capping off what was a fantastic career for Jackson.
He broke down the team Monday, too, sharing some words of wisdom with players. He discussed how quickly NFL careers go by and the importance of competing every day no matter how good or bad the team is.
It’s a message everyone should hear.
Jackson is an icon in Rams history, holding the top spot in franchise history for career rushing yards (10,138). He knows what it’s like to play for a struggling team, too, making the playoffs just once in his Rams career.
Yet, he still ran as hard as anyone in the NFL and was a leader in the locker room.
