Watch Steven Gerrard's Rangers welcome as Ibrox fans begin title party early

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was welcomed to Ibrox by thousands of fans as they started their title party early.

The incredible footage from inside his car was shared on social media with fans gathering around the route he drives in to the club's stadium.

Flags and scarves are thrown onto his vehicle as police hold back the crowds and allow him entry into the stadium.

It shows the fans celebrating wildly as he drives in and there's plenty of smoke and noise from the pyro that was being used.

The Ibrox boss had urged supporters to stay safe when he was quizzed over a potential Premiership title party in his pre-match press conference.

When asked about the situation, he said: “We all have to continue to try and abide by the Government rules and respect social distancing and stuff like that.

"But at the same time it’s out of my control and this is when you have to leave it to the security experts and people higher up the club than me to deal with these situations.

“I know a lot of rumours are going about but my job is to focus on the game and try and get three points. That's the priority for me. People have to understand the situation our fans are in and what they’ve been through and the priority is that they stay safe."

Police and security staff have been in attendance as the Rangers players arrive at the stadium.
