Watch: Stephen Mallon scores brilliant solo goal for Derry City

Much of the League of Ireland chat on Friday night was about Jordan Flores' wonder goal for Dundalk.

Flores scored an absolute screamer against Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght Stadium.

The official FIFA Twitter account labelled the sensational volley as a potential Puskas Award winner.

But it wasn't the only brilliant goal to be scored on Friday night.

Derry City forward Stephen Mallon proved his class with this goal against Bohemians.

Picking up possession on the left, the West Belfast footballer - currently on loan with Derry from Sheffield United - went on a brilliant solo run before rifling the ball into the top corner of the net.

It was a big goal for Derry who went on to win 2-0, with Walter Figueira scoring the second late on.

Mallon previously played for Donegal Celtic and St Oliver Plunkett before joining Sheffield United.

The versatile forward - who can also play in defence and wide areas - has represented both Northern Ireland and the Republic at youth level.
