Watch Stephen Colbert, Nick Offerman read Minooka's community calendar

April 05--Southwest suburban Minooka was in the spotlight during Monday's episode of "The Late Show" when Stephen Colbert and Nick Offerman read the village's community calendar.

Offerman, who stars in the upcoming movie "The Founder," was born in Joliet and raised in Minooka.

"My grandfather was the mayor, and my whole family still lives there," he told Colbert.

Colbert previously read the community calendars of the small Michigan towns that rapper Eminem and actor Jeff Daniels grew up in.

"I imagine that the people of Minooka would love to see one of those as well," Offerman said.

Among the calendar offerings: a workshop about networking business cards; a medical marijuana seminar for police officers; a "junk in the trunk" outdoor flea market and a laser-tag tournament at the Channahon branch of the Three Rivers Public Library.

"Run around and blast your friends with lasers; obstacles include shelves, stacked books and people trying to read," Offerman said.

Offerman is scheduled to sign his 2015 book "Gumption" at 7 p.m. Wednesday at North Central College in Naperville. "The Founder," about Chicago-area native Ray Kroc's transformation of the McDonald's chain, is slated to hit theaters Aug. 5.

"The Late Show" airs at 10:35 p.m. weeknights on CBS.
