WATCH: Stephen A. Smith becomes ESPN’s highest-paid on-air personality

Stephen A. Smith can no longer hear his haters through all his money bags.

The New York Post is reporting that Smith, who’s moved up through ESPN as a host and reporter since 2005, is now the highest-paid on-air personality at the network.

Smith and ESPN reportedly have struck a five-year deal in which he’ll rake in nearly $8 million a year. That puts him in front of Mike Greenberg, who makes $6.5 million a year as the host of ESPN’s “Get Up,” as the network’s top-paid talent.

The New York Post reports that Smith will remain on “First Take” while expanding his role with SportsCenter. He has already joined a special Wednesday edition of SportsCenter that leads into that night’s slate of NBA games.

Smith’s radio show, which airs weekdays 1-3 p.m. ET on ESPN Radio, is expected to end next year.
