Watch: Steph Curry reacts to Damion Lee’s game-winning shot in Suns vs. Mavericks

After the Golden State Warriors started the 2022-23 campaign with a victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday’s opening night of the NBA season, the rest of the league was on display on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s action was headlined by a battle between a pair of Western Conference contenders in the desert. Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns hosted Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. With the game coming down to the wire, a former member of the Warriors took over.

As the Suns mounted a comeback, Damion Lee tallied 11 points in the fourth quarter, including the game-winner. With seconds ticking off the clock, Lee hit a tough turnaround jumper on the baseline over Spencer Dinwiddie to give the Suns a two-point lead with under 10 seconds remaining. Doncic couldn’t answer on the other side, sealing the Suns’ 22-point comeback on opening night.

Lee’s clutch jumper for the Suns caught the attention of his former teammate and brother-in-law, Steph Curry. Following Lee’s game-winner, the Golden State Warriors point guard took to social media with a must-see reaction. While celebrating Lee’s shot, Curry woke up his young son, Canon.

Lee finished with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc with two assists and two rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench for the Suns.

After spending four seasons in Golden State, Lee signed with the Suns during the 2022 offseason.

Curry and Lee will soon have a reunion on the court when the Suns host the Warriors for the first time in the regular-season next week. The Warriors and Suns will tip off on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. in Phoenix.
