WATCH: Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is out for the season

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is out for the season. Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin shared in a statement Monday that the quarterback is getting surgery on his right elbow after leaving Sunday’s game in pain against the Seattle Seahawks.

The exact injury is still unknown but seems to have happened while throwing a pass in the final drive of the first half. ESPN NFL insider Dianna Russini reported Monday that Roethlisberger was having a hard time feeling his fingers on the sidelines.

Mason Rudolph, drafted by Pittsburgh in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft, will take over as the starter. Devlin Hodges is expected to come up from the practice squad as Roethlisberger moves to injured reserve.
