WATCH: Steelers great Hines Ward is joining the Gang Green in New York

Pittsburgh Steelers great Hines Ward is joining the Gang Green in New York.

Jets head coach Adam Gase announced on Monday that the former Steelers receiver is becoming a full-time offensive assistant on their staff. Ward got a taste of coaching this summer as a coaching intern for the Jets, and apparently impressed enough that they wanted to make it permanent.

“He’s done a lot of really good things with that group, helping out with those guys,” Gase said. “I think it was the right time for him. He’s excited about the opportunity.”

Jets receivers now have an all-timer to learn from. In 14 seasons with Pittsburgh — the only NFL team he suited up for — Ward collected four Pro Bowl nods, two Super Bowl rings and one Super Bowl MVP. He is currently ranked top-15 all-time in the league in career receptions and receiving touchdowns.
