Watch spine-tingling moment Liverpool crowd raise banners and chant in memory of 96 Hillsborough victims

This was the moment flags in memory of the 96 Hillsborough victims were poignantly held aloft at Anfield during Liverpool's match with Brighton.

Supporters attending the game kept their banners on show for the first six minutes to show their solidarity with the families of the 96 in their ongoing fight for justice.

A large banner paying tribute to the 96 Liverpool supporters who lost their lives at Hillsborough was passed around the ground and chants of "Justice for the 96" rang around the stadium to standing applause as the game kicked off and continued for the full half-a-dozen minutes too.

The action comes after match commander David Duckenfield, 75, was acquitted earlier this week and cleared of the gross negligence manslaughter of 95 of the victims on Thursday.

Duckenfield was the police match commander when a terrace crush led to the deaths of 96 Liverpool supporters at the club's 1989 FA Cup semi-final with Nottingham Forest.

*He was not charged over the death of Tony Bland as laws at the time prohibited prosecution if someone died more than 366 days after injury. Mr Bland died in 1993.
