Watch spine-tingling atmosphere as Katie Taylor walks to the ring v Firuza Sharipova

Katie Taylor blew the roof off the M&S Arena in Liverpool as she made her way to the ring for her bout with Kazakhstan's Firuza Sharipova.

The Bray fighter successfully defended her WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF and Ring Magazine lightweight belts to take her record to 20-0 on Saturday night.

Taylor walked out to The La's classic hit 'There She Goes', which led to the large crowd inside the arena going absolutely nuts.

And they were cheering again come the end of the fight as the undisputed lightweight queen had her hand raised in victory after winning via unanimous decision.

Sharipova did cause the champion problems though, but not enough to convince the judges, who all scored the bout in Taylor's favour: 98-92, 97-92, 96-93.

The win looks set to lead to a massive showdown between Taylor and unified world featherweight champion Amanda Serrano, who has held nine world titles across seven different weight classes.

A bout between the pair was scheduled to take place in May 2020, but was cancelled due to Covid and efforts to rearrange it for later that year failed due to issues around the fight purse offered to Serrano.

The Puerto Rican faces Miriam Gutierrez, who Taylor previously defeated impressively in London, next weekend in Florida and a fight between her and the 2012 Olympic gold medallist could be announced early next year if Serrano wins.
