Watch Spice Girls arrive on stage to an amazing reaction in Sunderland

After months of counting down, Spice Girls arrived in Sunderland and the local crowd certainly made them welcome.

It was back in November that Emma, Geri, Mel B and Mel C announced they’d be going on tour and after entertaining crowds in Dublin, Cardiff, Manchester and Coventry, they arrived on Sunderland to a rapturous reception on Thursday night.

There were Gingers, Scarys, Babys, Sportys and even Poshs milling around Sunderland city centre from early hours afternoon as Spice Fever hit Wearside and by the time it was doors open at Stadium of Light the atmosphere was at fever pitch.

Support act Jess Glynne delivered a fine set that included Hold My Hand, Thursday and I’ll Be There which only hyped up the expectant crowd even more for the main attraction.

Watch the Stadium of Light erupt as Spice Girls make dramatic entrance

After some teasing from their dancers, Spice Girls arrived on stage to a crescendo of pyrotechnics as fireworks filled the Wearside sky- almost drowned out by the screams in the Stadium of Light  as Spice Up Your Life kicked off one hell of a night to remember.
