Watch: Slow motion videos show Notre Dame players’ comical attempts at stopping tempo

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish fell just a bit short in Athens Saturday, losing 23-17 to Georgia. However, the score could have been a little bit worse, if not for some injuries that were thought to be faked by Irish players.

Of course, injuries are nothing to joke about and should not be questioned in most cases. Fans in Sanford Stadium were quick to react to the sudden spike in Notre Dame injuries on Saturday, but after further review, it looks like they were right.

Video replay, which Gary Danielson and Brad Nestler noticed while calling the game, shows at least one Irish player going down on purpose Saturday.

In the video, it appears that one Notre Dame defender is about to drop down, before his teammate decides to take the fall first, with the help of another defender.

That had to be the most obvious of the potentially fake injuries, but this one looked pretty self imposed too.

As you can see, even the Georgia offensive players are catching on to the Irish’s tactics at this point, trying to get the officials to throw a flag.

We’ll let you be the judge on the rest of the plays because we don’t think Notre Dame was faking every single injury. However, there sure were some interesting skits during the second half Saturday night.
