WATCH: Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher reveals he does not know who Sunderland boss Jack Ross is

The pressure is building on Jack Ross, but it is a sign of how far the Black Cats have fallen when one of Sky Sports' leading pundits has no idea who the Sunderland manager is.

During Jamie Carragher's playing days at Liverpool, Sunderland were a regular fixture in the Premier League.

Fast forward to 2019 and Sunderland are in League One and must win the end of season play-offs to return to the Championship.

After catastrophic back-to-back relegations, Ross had seemed to reverse the tide and had the Black Cats on course to win automatic promotion from League One.

But a disastrous run of form has seen Sunderland win just one of their last seven games to end the season in fifth place.

As such the pressure is building on Ross, not that Carra has heard of him!

The former Liverpool and England defender will have debated the futures of previous Sunderland managers during his time working for Sky Sports. The likes of Gus Poyet, Dick Advocaat, Sam Allardyce, David Moyes.

This season Sunderland have reached a Wembley cup final and could well reach another one this month. They recorded the highest ever crowd for a League One game and have had higher average gates than a number of top European clubs.

But now they are in the third tier, Sunderland are out of the Premier League glare and out of Carragher's focus.

During an Instagram Live hosted by Sky Sports presenter and Sunderland fan Dave Jones, Carragher was asked whether he believes Ross should be sacked, to which he replied: "Who is Jack Ross?"

He followed it up by saying he enjoyed the Netflx documentary 'Sunderland til I Die'. Maybe he will become more familiarised with the former St Mirren boss during season two...
