WATCH: Silver, Ranadive considering NBA-run Indian pro league

The NBA will be the first North American professional sports league to have a game in India when the Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers play in Mumbai on Friday.
According to ESPN’s The Undefeated, Kings owner Vivek Ranadive and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver are discussing developing a 12-team basketball league in India. The model for the league would follow the structure of the NBA’s Basketball Africa League, which launches in full and begins play in 2020 after years of development and work.
Silver told Marc Spears of The Undefeated that there is “serious consideration to the launch of a league” in India, but that the infrastructure of arenas would need serious improvement. For Friday’s game, the NBA brought in a hardwood basketball court, scoreboards and other things standard to outfitting an NBA game.
