Watch: Shocking footage shows van engulfed in flames on Bristol shopping street

Footage has emerged of huge flames rising up from a van on a Redland shopping street.

The video, shot on Friday evening (February 21), shows the van parked in the bus stop outside the Little Steps children's charity shop on Zetland Road.

Kurtis, who did not give his surname, filmed the fire from his flat window near the junction with Gloucester Road.

He said: "This was taken at 7.55pm, but looking at the fire I reckon it would've started around 7.30pm.

"No one was hurt and it seems it may have been a malfunction with the vehicle engine as I can't imagine anyone attacked it, nor had the van crashed into anything.

"A few people attempted to use extinguishers to put out the fire. A fire engine and police car came, with the fire crew having to use a water hose to put out the fire."

Kurtis added that the flames had risen almost as high as his window.

You can watch his footage of the fire at the top of this page.

When our photographer visited the area on Sunday afternoon, the van had been removed.

The spot where the vehicle had been parked was scorched black.

We have approached Avon Fire and Rescue for more information.
