Of the three players the Oklahoma City Thunder acquired in the Paul George (Los Angeles Clippers) and Russell Westbrook (Houston Rockets) trades, one name comes with significant expectations.
Although Chris Paul has put together a Hall of Fame career and Danilo Gallinari is an accomplished player, neither is expected to help the Thunder as the team positions itself to rebuild. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, however, is a different story.
With Westbrook now gone, the title of “face of the franchise” is now up for grabs. Some think Gilgeous-Alexander, the No. 11 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, can take on the mantle. His strength coach says is training him so he’s prepared to take on the role.
Based on a recent video of Gilgeous-Alexander training (posted by Reddit user Rockstar408), the new Oklahoma City Thunder guard seems fairly comfortable in his new team’s gear. Maybe he’ll feel just as comfortable in the big shoes he’s expected to fill.
