Add one more accolade to Serena Williams’ (very) long list of achievements. She is the first athlete ever to crack Forbes’ annual list of richest self-made women.
She debuts at the bottom of the list at No. 80 with a net worth of $225 million. Per Forbes, $89 million of her net worth comes from tennis prize money, which the publication estimates are double that of any other female athlete.
Williams earned $29 million just last year, mostly through endorsements as she worked her way back from having her first child. But she’s also gotten involved in the world of venture capital, investing in 34 startup companies over the past five years through her own firm, Serena Ventures.
Williams also launched her own clothing line, S by Serena, in May 2018.
