WATCH: SEC votes to remove ban on alcohol sales at sporting events

The SEC voted Friday at its spring conference meetings to remove the ban on alcohol sales in the general seating areas, opening up the option for each school to sell beer and wine at all sporting events beginning Aug. 1, 2019.

The removal of the ban was passed by a majority vote from the Southeastern Conference presidents and chancellors. The SEC was the only power-5 conference prohibiting sales to general seating although the conference did already allow sales in private and leased areas during events. The decision was expected to come out of the meetings and many schools had already been preparing for the news.
