Organized team activities and mandatory minicamp aren’t a time for players to make big jumps up or down the depth chart. Instead, it’s a good time to practice certain situations, install the offense and defense, and begin to build chemistry between players – particularly when it comes to meshing newcomers and holdovers from last season.
Sean McVay gave the Rams a break this year by canceling the last two days of minicamp, sending players home early for summer break. He joked at the final practice of the spring that he would extend minicamp to the full three days if the Rams made one mistake.
McVay was mic’d up for that final minicamp practice and it’s enlightening to see how he runs things. Check out the video from the Rams.
McVay is clearly encouraged by the progress the team made over the course of OTAs and minicamp, saying “foundationally, we have gotten so much better from a big-picture standpoint.”
