Sean McVay calling play-by-play of Rams-Cowboys is as awesome as you’d expect

Sean McVay treated fans to a peek behind the curtain of an NFL head coach’s view from the sideline on game day. During the third quarter of Saturday’s preseason game against the Cowboys, McVay traded in his coaching headset for a television one.

He joined the NFL Network broadcast while the Rams defense was on the field, sharing his thoughts on plays as they were happening. It wasn’t something that happens often on NFL broadcasts, but it was truly insightful – even as brief as it was.

Take a look and listen to what McVay said as the game was going on.

He stuck around for one offensive play, too, which was called by Shane Waldron. McVay told the broadcast booth what play was coming and applauded Brandon Allen for checking the ball down to his tight end, who leaked out after the fake.

It’s rare that a coach will take time to talk to the broadcast team during a game, but McVay isn’t like most other coaches.
