WATCH: Saquon Barkley has ‘no doubt’ ankle will hold up if cleared for Week 7

Giants running back Saquon Barkley is still waiting for medical staff to clear him to play in a game, after suffering an ankle injury in the first half of New York’s (2-4) Week 3 win versus the Buccaneers.

But Thursday, the reigning NFL Rookie of the Year told reporters at team availability that he has “no doubt in my mind,” that the ankle would hold up if he is cleared to play in the Giants’ Week 7 game versus the Cardinals (2-3-1), according to ESPN NFL Nation Giants reporter Jordan Raanan.

Barkley is ahead of the originally anticipated 4 to 6 weeks of rehab on the injury. The Giants have said they plan to be cautious with the 2018 second overall NFL Draft pick and the ultimate decision on the 22-year-old’s availability versus Arizona will be made accordingly by medical staff.

The running back seems ready to get back on the gridiron though, tweeting out Sunday “I’ll be back soon.”
