Friday brought good news for Giants fans: Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram are both expected to return to the field Sunday.
Neither the team’s leading rusher nor the leading receiver was listed on the official injury report and head coach Pat Shurmur said that both players are available for the game, although he did
Barkley missed the Giants (2-4) last three games after suffering a high ankle sprain (right) during the team’s win at Tampa Bay (2-4). Engram missed last week’s Thursday night loss to the Patriots (6-0) with a sprained MCL in his left knee.
Even with both players’ absence, they are each the team’s most-used weapon at the position. Barkley has a team-high 37 carries for 237 yards (6.4 yards per carry) with one touchdown. Engram has a receiving corps-best 33 receptions for 373 yards (11.3 yards per catch) with two touchdowns.
Ahead of hosting Arizona (2-3-1), the only downside to Sunday is that wide receiver Sterling Shepard and cornerback Corey Ballentine are both still listed out with concussions.
