Sam Darnold will be back under center for the New York Jets on Sunday against the Cowboys.
The quarterback, who had been sidelined for about a month with mononucleosis, was cleared by doctors Tuesday to return to gameplay.
The team hoped he’d be ready to go for the Philadelphia Eagles last week, but tests revealed that his spleen was still inflamed.
New York is 0-4 this season heading into Sunday’s matchup with the Cowboys. Darnold started in the Jets’ Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills but has not seen game action since then.
Per the Jets’ team site, Darnold said in a radio appearance Monday that his energy has been “awesome” and that he’s happy with how he’s recovered.
