Watch Ryan Fitzpatrick baffle defenders with no-look touchdown pass

Yesterday, we at Dolphins Wire observed that Ryan Fitzpatrick was letting it all hang loose — he’s at the tail end of his career as an NFL quarterback and has zero expectations heaped upon him despite a successful career to date. Playing loose and have fun is one thing, but now we know Fitzpatrick is out here playing games with defenders in Davie.

Have you seen this touchdown pass he threw this week? Fitzpatrick didn’t — and he’s the one who threw the ball. That’s right, cameras at Miami’s mandatory minicamp caught Fitzpatrick dishing a no-look touchdown toss in 7-on-7s.

The audacity! The disrespect! It is terrific. Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs actually did one of these in a game — we’ll see if Fitzpatrick gets to that point, although we’d probably prefer he didn’t. But how about the placement of the throw by Fitzpatrick here and then the extra impressive footwork by DeVante Parker to make a play?

If the Dolphins are going to be competitive in 2019, they’re going to need someone — Rosen or Fitzpatrick — to play at a high level like this week in and week out. And they’ll need some magical footwork from Parker along the way.

The Dolphins break away for a few weeks after canceling yesterday’s final mandatory minicamp practice. Fitzpatrick has officially gone out on a high note. We’ll have to see where he picks back up in training camp in July.
