If you’re looking for bad blood and trash talk ahead of the Bellator 232 main event on Saturday night, you’re going to be sorely disappointed.
Bellator is bringing a doubleheader of fight night action to Uncasville, Conn., this weekend, with the two-night event culminating in a battle for the Bellator welterweight title and the $1 million grand prix prize.
The fight pits familiar foes Rory MacDonald and Douglas Lima head to head in an eagerly anticipated rematch and, while the stakes are definitely high, both men are full of respect for each other ahead of the clash Saturday night at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Ahead of the matchup, both men sat down with DAZN host Robin Black for a somewhat awkward face-to-face interview. Often these interviews feature trash talk and bold predictions as the tension is ratcheted up ahead of big-time bouts. But MacDonald and Lima looked equally uncomfortable as they nervously chuckled their way through the chat.
The bad blood might not be present, but both men know how to handle their business inside the cage. And, after their punishing first encounter went all five rounds at Bellator 192 in January 2018, a similarly hard-fought clash is expected this time around.
