NEW DELHI: Rohit Sharma's iconic 'walk' trophy celebration at the T20 World Cup became a memorable moment in cricket history.

After leading India to victory, Rohit emulated Lionel Messi's famous World Cup-winning walk, which Messi had performed in June 2022 after Argentina's triumph over France in the FIFA World Cup final in Qatar.

Rohit’s slow walk to collect the trophy after defeating South Africa in a thrilling final in Barbados captured the imagination of fans and players alike.

Following Rohit's celebrated gesture, the walk became popular among cricket teams worldwide.

Recently, Hayley Matthews, captain of the Barbados Royals Women, recreated the walk after leading her team to victory over Trinbago Knight Riders Women. Her tribute to Rohit's celebration highlighted its impact and enduring appeal.
