Watch: Rohit Sharma enjoys Ranji final amid BCCI's push to prioritise red-ball cricket

NEW DELHI: India skipper Rohit Sharma was on Tuesday seen enjoying the Mumbai vs Vidarbha Ranji Trophy final at the Wankhede Stadium.

Local boy Rohit was seen watching the game from the Mumbai dressing room, sitting alongside Mumbai veteran Dhawal Kulkarni.

Rohit joins the list of high profile cricketers, who have graced the Ranji final with their presence.

On the second day of the final, legendary Sunil Gavaskar and Diana Edulji were seen enjoying the game.

Little Master Sachin Tendulkar, former chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar and KKR head coach Chandrakant Pandit too were seen enjoying the game on Tuesday.

Rohit watching the Ranji final comes amid Indian cricket board's push to prioritize Test and domestic cricket.

The BCCI recently introduced 'Test Cricket Incentive Scheme' under which it tripled the Test match reward for players who would play 75 per cent or more of the scheduled red-ball games in a particular season.

A Test player, who appears in a possible 10 Tests in a season will be richer by a whopping Rs 4.50 crore as incentive apart from a possible Rs 1.5 crore (15 lakh per game) in usual match fee.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said the board will spend around Rs 45 crore for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
