WATCH: Redskins’ Josh Norman, Saints’ Demario Davis bail out ICE detainee

An ICE detainee is free on bail this week thanks to the financial contributions of Redskins cornerback Josh Norman and Saints linebacker Demario Davis.

Jose Bello, a 22-year-old farmworker in California, was in state prison for nearly 90 days after he was arrested in May on an outstanding DUI charge and bail was set at $50,000. Two days prior to his arrest, Bello read a poem he wrote called “Dear America,” which was aimed at the Trump administration’s immigration policy.

Davis and Norman combined their funds with contributions from the New York Immigrant Freedom Fund and the National Bail Fund Network to enable Bello’s release.

Bello told the Washington Post “To me, it seemed like a dream,” in a phone interview after being released. He explained that he knows who both athletes are and that he is honored that they helped him.
