WATCH: RB Carlos Hyde punches in first TD as member of the Texans

Running back Carlos Hyde continues to be a trade steal for the Houston Texans.

Heading into Sunday’s game with the Los Angeles Chargers, Hyde was in the NFL’s top-five for rushing yards (173) and average yards per attempt (5.8). However, he didn’t have a touchdown to his name.

Until the Texans offense drove the field to the 2-yard-line, then mandated that a Hyde rush up the middle the was the right option. Running into a cloud of dust, the veteran back punched in the touchdown to narrow Los Angeles’ lead to 17-14.

When in doubt, run behind Laremy Tunsil and Max Scharping; that’s what they say right? Maybe not, but the strategy paid off for Hyde and the Texans offense.

Though Hyde rushed for his first score as a Texan, his stats by the end of his touchdown don’t pop off the boxscore. He stood at six rushes for nine yards and the score by the time Houston narrowed the lead to three.
