Returning from injury after a gap of five months, Jadeja first on Day 1 starred with a fifer (5/47) and then backed it up with an unbeaten 66 on the second day as India wrapped up the second day at 321 for 7 in reply to Australia's 177, taking a crucial 144-run lead.
The fifty from Jadeja, his 18th in the longest format was followed by his trademark sword celebration as the Nagpur crowd erupted in joy.
Wishes poured in from all quarters as Jadeja compiled a terrific half-century on a track that has been quite spin friendly.
Along with Jadeja, skipper Rohit Sharma (120) and all-rounder Axar Patel (52*) were also exceptional as another day belonged to the hosts.
